Putnam Iron Works was established in 1982 by a team of Executives, Bookkeepers, and Foremans seasoned in the fabrication of structural steel, destined for success.
In 1983, Robert Nelson began employment as an apprentice in the shop. During the course of the next exciting 15 years he steadily worked his way through the ranks learning the business from Welder to Vice President of Operations. Putnam Iron Works became a major structural steel fabricator in the New York region.
In February of 1998, Nelson had the opportunity to buy the business and approached Luis Castro, a veteran in steel fabrication, to become his partner. Henceforth, Putnam Steel Inc. was established.
From day one, with their accumulated knowledge and strong background, they have continually improved, upgrading all departments with the most current fabricating techniques and equipment.
Today Putnam Steel, Inc. has become a one-stop shop. We fabricate, have our own fleet of trucks for shipping, employ erectors and have our own cranes. This eliminates sub-contracts and enables us to be in total control of your proejct from start to finish, ensuring that you are a satisfied customer.
